About Pettinaro

Pettinaro, originally founded as Pettinaro Construction Co., Inc. in 1964, is now a second generation, family-owned and managed group of over 110 entities led by Gregory Pettinaro.  With in-house construction, architectural, and development capabilities, the Pettinaro entities, develop, construct, own, operate, lease and manage properties. Headquartered in Newport, Delaware, Pettinaro currently employs over 200 people and owns, not including land acquisitions, over 4 million square feet of office, retail, industrial and residential properties located in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.

Company founder, Verino Pettinaro is married to Midge and has four children: Gregory, Tracy, Cindy and Vicky.  Verino has always incorporated the colors orange and black in the Pettinaro signage and advertising simply because these colors stand out and people take notice.

In the mid-70s, Verino started his own construction business initially refurbishing basements.  Soon, he found a niche in the commercial construction market. Verino took on jobs such as building and or renovating schools, a local post office, building an addition to the University of Delaware library and renovating the Wilmington Train Station. Verino increased his profile in the residential market when he built a town home community at the former Wilmington General Hospital site. He also purchased and developed what is now known as Greenville Place, a town home and apartment community in an upscale Wilmington neighborhood.

One of Pettinaro's major feats was the foresight to buy 86 acres on the Christina riverfront in the 80's, part of a former shipyard industrial site.  Since then, Pettinaro has emerged as the principal developer along with the Riverfront Development Corporation, transforming the Wilmington Christina riverfront area into a beautiful and active destination for the City of Wilmington.

Other major Pettinaro projects on the Riverfront include:

--- Riverfront Arts Center, now owned by a premier event facility called the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

--- Conversion of a former shipyard structure into a modern Class-A 60,000 sf office building.

--- Christina Crescent, a 270,000 sf office building for Barclays Bank, which will include a retail center, parking garage and public park.

Verino continues to be active in the daily operations of the Pettinaro companies together with his son, Gregory, the current CEO of the vastly growing group of entities. Before joining the business in 1987, Gregory attended the College of Boca Raton & the University of Delaware. Gregory continues to increase Pettinaro's large property portfolio and will lead Pettinaro into the next generation.
